Josh Goforth is authentic.  He was born and raised in the hills of Madison County North Carolina, working, fishing, learning, and playing music with family and friends, many of whom have been important carriers of musical traditions and inspiration for generations. 

He can play groove for old time dancing, fancy licks, or sing ballads with haunting spirit from generations back.  He is equally as excited to hear someone else’s music, a young child just holding an instrument for the first time, an old timer from back home with years of experience or a musician from some exotic far off place with a completely different approach to music and maybe life.  Josh is open to inspiration

Knowing that life is music, he studies life and music with intelligence, with intuitions and with all his attention.  Josh plays and sings from his heart.  He know what music is for and with this knowledge makes effective use of this powerful, magic medium to communicate, not only with those who can give him fame and glory, but with everyone who needs his talent.  In this way, he makes the world a better place.

I am proud that he is my student and my friend.  Sometimes he is my teacher.
